Pittsfield man, 41, pleads not guilty to rape charge
PITTSFIELD -- A city man was being held without bail on Friday after his arraignment in Central Berkshire District Court.
Christopher Peterson, 41, of Francis Avenue, pleaded not guilty to a single count of rape.
Besides the rape charge, for which Peterson agreed to be held on $100,000 bail, he is also facing an unrelated charge of larceny from a person as well as a possible probation violation for which he was held without bail.
Police and prosecutors allege Peterson raped someone in Pittsfield on Nov. 14. The police report was sealed by court order and no other information was available.
The larceny from a person charge was from January. He allegedly failed to show up for his arraignment.
The probation violation is related to a breaking and entering and larceny of a check under $250 from a September 2010 case. A probation violation hearing was scheduled for Dec. 14.
Peterson is being represented by attorney Nathaniel K. Green.
The case is likely to go to Berkshire Superior Court.
