Pittsfield man, 64, faces charges for allegedly groping model

PITTSFIELD — A 64-year-old man was released on recognizance after denying charges he sexually assaulted a younger woman during a modeling session.

Ik J. Moon allegedly groped a 21-year-old woman who agreed to pose nude for a private session, according to an application for criminal complaint in the case.

The woman told police she often poses nude for figure-drawing classes and was hired by Moon to pose for him.

She said she met Moon at JTC Gear, a North Street retail store, at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 and, after some conversation, he invited her to the back of the store.

After some more conversation, Moon picked up a sheet of cardboard with a piece of paper attached — which the woman assumed was a sketch pad — and she removed her clothes.

After about 5 minutes of drawing "poorly," according to the report, Moon allegedly asked the woman to stand up, placed his hands on her thighs, told her to turn around and sit on his lap.

While she was seated on his lap, Moon allegedly kissed and fondled her breasts and continued to do so after she had stood up.

Moon allegedly asked the woman to touch his chest, which she did before quickly stopping and telling him she had a boyfriend and couldn't continue.

According to court records, Moon then left the back room and went to the front of the store, leaving the woman to get dressed in the back. He paid her the agreed-upon modeling fee before she left the store.

Moon pleaded not guilty to one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

He is due back in court on Feb. 3 for a pre-trial hearing.
