Pittsfield man allegedly damaged dryer, exposed himself and stole clothes

PITTSFIELD >> A city man is facing charges for allegedly smashing the glass door of a clothes dryer at a Tyler Street Laundromat, trying on other clothes he retrieved from other dryers and exposing himself.

Brett A. McConnell, 20, of Brenton Terrace, was shown on video surveillance entering V's Laundromat about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to court records.

He was seen damaging the dryer and taking clothing that did not belong to him and removing his pants and underwear in front of a window, police said. He then left Laundromat wearing clothes belonging to someone else.

Police canvassed nearby businesses and asked people to contact them if McConnell was spotted again in the area.

McConnell was located and arrested Tuesday night and charged with one count of vandalizing property for the damage to the dryer.

He was ordered held on $500 bail and scheduled to return to court on Feb. 2 for a pre-trial hearing.
