PITTSFIELD -- A Pittsfield man was charged with multiple assault counts after he allegedly fought with his mother and sister -- and spat at a police officer.

Kyle Egan, 23, of Cherry Street, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Tuesday after he allegedly shoved his mother to the floor and shoved his sister after returning home intoxicated and throwing furniture.

After being taken into custody, Egan spat at the arresting officer inside the cruiser. He was pepper sprayed as a result.

Egan was arraigned in front of Judge Jacklyn Connly on Wednesday and released on his own personal recognizance pending a future court date.
