Pittsfield man allegedly pulls gun at Polish Community Club

PITTSFIELD -- Joseph McGregor, 49, was being held on Saturday afternoon after allegedly pulling out a gun at the Polish Community Club in Pittsfield following an alleged dispute with the bartender.

The Pittsfield man was held down and restrained by patrons and club members, police said. The gun wasn't loaded, according to Pittsfield police Sgt. Michael Maddalena.

McGregor was held on a charge of assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

He allegedly pulled out a black powder pistol on the club's bartender after an argument between the two, Maddalena said. McGregor allegedly was intoxicated at the time. The bartender took the gun out of McGregor's hand while several of the bar's patrons tackled McGregor, Maddalena said. The patrons detained him until police arrived and arrested him.

Police were trying to determine whether the revolver was an antique or replica, which could affect other possible weapon charges.
