Pittsfield man charged with illegal possession of ammunition

PITTSFIELD -- A Pittsfield man wanted on a warrant was charged with possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card after being arrested by Pittsfield police on Thursday afternoon.

Alexander Demick, 27, of Lake Street, was arrested by police at Bradford Street and Daniels Avenue on a warrant at about 12:39 p.m. Police allegedly found 17 shells believed to be from a Winchester rifle and 8mm Mauser rifle.

The circumstances of what led police to respond to the area to arrest Demick, were not immediately available. The cause for the warrant, also was not available.
