PITTSFIELD -- A 24-year-old city man who stole guns and other property from homes in Becket, Hinsdale, Lanesborough and Richmond will serve a two-year jail sentence after a ruling in court Friday.

Michael A. Vickery pleaded guilty to six counts breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, three counts larceny of a firearm and two counts receiving stolen property over $250 in Berkshire Superior Court.

Judge Mary Lou Rup gave Vickery a second two-year suspended sentence on the conditions he remain drug free, submit to random drug screens and psychological evaluations and attend community corrections and counseling.

Between February and March of 2013, Vickery broke into homes in the towns named above and stole thousands of dollars worth of items.

Police believe Jake Sawtelle of Pittsfield also took part in the break-ins. Sawtelle awaits sentencing.
