Pittsfield man held after drug, gun arrest
PITTSFIELD -- A Pittsfield man arrested in a drug bust in the city on Wednesday was ordered by Judge Paul Vrabel in Central Berkshire District Court on Friday to be held at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $7,500 bail.
Brandon Green, 21, was charged with multiple drug and gun charges in connection with the bust at a home on Springside Avenue where he was present. Police allegedly found bags of cocaine and marijuana worth approximately $2,100 to $2,200 on Green and his co-defendant Andre Austin. A loaded Smith and Wesson revolver was allegedly uncovered in a gym bag.
Green and Austin were arrested by the Berkshire County Drug Task Force on a search warrant for the home. According to the criminal complaint, police were targeting a person who fit Austin's description, and one other person who wasn't there.
Green was represented in court on Friday by Richard LeBlanc, with the Committee for Public Counsel Services. LeBlanc argued that there was no evidence Green knew the gun was at the home. Green was living with his aunt on Myrtle Avenue in Pittsfield at the time, he said.
LeBlanc successfully fought off a motion by the District Attorney's Office to revoke the $7,500 bail that Green posted last year in connection with an assault and battery charge. Green allegedly kicked somebody in a brawl outside a North Adams bar in June. Green was stabbed in the leg during the fight. That case is pending.
Austin was sent to Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $20,000 bail a day earlier pending a future court date.
