PITTSFIELD -- A Pittsfield man remains held on $25,000 bail after denying allegations that he raped an 11-year-old girl.

William Soper, 32, pleaded not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Monday to four counts of rape of a child: with force; one count of indecent assault and battery; and one count of intimidation of a witness or other person.

Soper allegedly committed the crimes in Pittsfield between Dec. 1, 2011 and Jan. 31, 2012. He was indicted by a Berkshire grand jury on July 8.

Judge John A. Agostini ordered him held in the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $25,000 bail.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, and state police detectives assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney's office.
