Pittsfield man in critical condition after shooting early Sunday


PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man remains in critical condition after a shooting early Sunday in the city.

Eric Cornielle, 25, was found by police responding to a call about shots fired about 12:11 a.m. in the area of Second, Adam and Pleasant streets, according to a release issued Monday evening by Pittsfield police.

Cornielle was found lying in the roadway with a single gunshot wound, police said.

He was treated at the scene by police and EMS personnel before being transported to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

He was later transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Pittsfield Police Department Detective Bureau at 413-448-9705. Detective Bertelli-Hunt is the lead investigator.
