Pittsfield: Master dancer to present Afro-Cuban dance class

The Funk Box Studio and Gaia Roots World Music will present an Afro-Cuban Dance Class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at The Funk Box Dance Studio, 137 North St., Crawford Square.

The class will be led by master dancer Miguel Periche, originally from Holguin, Cuba, with live folkloric drumming led by drummer and cultural educator Aimee Gelinas.

Periche specializes in African rooted dances of Cuba, specifically the social rumba and sacred Orisa dances rooted in the Congolese and Nigerian traditions, and hip hop dance rooted in the Columbia, a form of rumba.

Class cost is $15. Pre-registration required by emailing aimee@gaiaroots.com.
