Pittsfield: Multiple Sclerosis Walk slated Saturday

The annual Berkshires Walk MS, presented by Biogen Idec, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, from Taconic High School, 96 Valentine Road.

The 5-mile walk raises money to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis. Individuals as well as a number of teams will participate including April’s Steps, Man vs. MS, and D.P.’s Dream.

MS interrupts the flow of information between the brain and body and can stop people from moving forward in their lives. It is typically diagnosed between ages 20 and 50, but teenagers and even young children can have the disease. Nearly 12,000 individuals and families are affected by MS in Massachusetts alone.

The minimum fundraising amount is $25.
