Pittsfield: Music School to present contemporary recital

The Berkshire Music School will hold its fourth annual Contemporary Music Recital at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Taft Recital Hall, 30 Wendell Ave. Admission is a free-will donation.

Tracy Wilson, BMS executive director, challenged BMS faculty and student body to study literature composed within the last 75 years, and performances of those compositions will be given by students and faculty members.

Also, Berkshire Music School is participating in Pittsfield’s Upstreet 10X10 Festival at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, by presenting performances by 10 student or faculty musicians, each performing a 10-minute set.

Offered in a coffee house setting in the Taft Recital Hall, teas, coffees and desserts will be served prior to each set, and a raffle will be held following each set. Winners must be present to win.

At the end of the afternoon, a grand prize raffle will take place for a $100 gift certificate. The winner does not need to be present.

Performances will include classical to jazz on piano, trumpet, percussion, or voice. Admission is a free will donation at the door. Information: (413) 442-1411.
