Pittsfield: NAMI hosting mental health awareness walk

National Alliance on Mental Illness Berkshire County will host the 11th annual Minds Matter Walk for Mental Health Awareness Fundraiser at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Persip Park on the corner of North Street and Columbus Avenue.

The walk will be held during Pittsfield's Third Thursday to coincide with Children's Mental Health Awareness month and to help raise awareness of the impact of mental illnesses in Berkshire County.

NAMI Berkshire County Executive Director Brenda Carpenter and NAMI Berkshire County Board Chair Deborah Sadowy-Dargie will give opening remarks at 5:15 p.m., and the Walk will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Participants can register by visiting namibc.org and printing out the registration form, as well as from 5 to 5:15 p.m. on the day of the event at the NAMI Berkshire County booth. The first 100 people to register will receive a free tote bag.

There are also four sponsorship levels available, ranging from Supporter ($250 level) to Gold ($2,500 level). Sponsors will receive exclusive exposure for their organization, including in all event-related printed materials, as well as the organization's name and logo on NAMI Berkshire County's website for one year.

The deadline to become a sponsor is Friday, April 29. For more information or to become a sponsor, contact Brenda at 413-443-1666 or namibc@namibc.org.
