Pittsfield: Park Square tree lighting set for Nov. 30

Monday November 26, 2012

The Department of Community Development Recreation Program has announced that the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, at Park Square.

The Taconic High School Chorus will perform a variety of carols, Santa Claus will arrive following the tree lighting, and free hot chocolate will be available, courtesy of Patrick’s Pub.

This year’s tree donors asked to remain anonymous. Their wish was to have a returning veteran light the tree; Carmen Provenzano of the U.S. Air Force who recently returned home from a tour will have that honor.

Those planning to attend the ceremony are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Christian Center’s food pantry.

For more information, contact Rebecca Tefft, Recreation Activities coordinator, at (413) 499-9370.
