Pittsfield: Paving scheduled on North Street

Posted

PITTSFIELD >> For the week of Sept. 26, Streetscape contractor Maxymillian will continue work on the installation of new uplights and conduit within the islands from the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center to Hotel on North. Construction work will start at 7 a.m.

The curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will complete restoration of the sidewalk at the Linden and Maplewood intersection. They will be on site Monday and Tuesday.

Maxymillian will also work on removing temporary blacktop ramps around manholes, driveways and wheelchair ramps in the middle of next week, as well as other operations related to paving preparation.

Eversource contractor, Burke Electric, will continue work on replacing the top of a vault on the north corner of Bradford and North streets (near Methuselah). The sidewalk will be closed in this area and excavation will be protected with barriers and fencing.

Warner Brothers is scheduled to pave the final top course on Thursday and Friday. Similar to the previous paving phase, the roadway will be closed on one side while work is being performed and switched over after the first half is completed. Drivers should expect delays on these days, as well as closures of side streets.

Subcontractor, Lapinski Electric, will begin installing new heads and cameras on mast arms at the Melville and Union intersection. This work will cause lanes and side streets to be closed as needed.

Vehicular traffic will be down to one lane in both directions. Vehicles will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
