Pittsfield: PHS drama students to stage Shakespeare

Posted
Proteus Theater, Pittsfield High School's after-school drama program, will present "A Midsummer Night's Dream," its first Shakespeare production in over 30 years, on Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 2-10, in the PHS Auditorium.

This fast-paced comedy of fairies and fools is directed by resident drama teacher John Monteverde and features a classical score by Felix Mendelssohn and design work inspired by American artist Maxfield Parrish.

Dance choreography is by guest director and PHS alumna Cameron Allshouse, with a few fight scenes by Dara Silverman of Shakespeare & Company.

The large cast includes over two dozen PHS students as well as an additional half-dozen young apprentices from Herberg Middle School.

Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com.
