Pittsfield: Pianist to honor late father with performance

Thursday February 21, 2013

Best known for his jazz piano performances in Berkshire County and beyond, Benny "Fingers" Kohn will perform songs written by his father, the late Ed Kohn, at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, at Mission Bar & Tapas.

Ed, who passed away in 1999, is fondly remembered throughout the area as a talented singer/songwriter.

The younger Kohn performed with his father at various clubs in his teenage years and can be heard playing the keyboard on each of the three albums that his father released.

This is the first time Benny has honored the body of work in a public performance. Local musicians that knew, loved, and collaborated with Ed Kohn are invited to join in during this show with their own interpretations of his words and melodies.
