Pittsfield Police investigate armed robbery attempt at Rite Aid


PITTSFIELD — Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery on Tuesday night at the Rite Aid on South Street.

About 8:50 p.m., a woman, described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt concealing her face, a dark winter coat and dark pants entered the store, according to Pittsfield Police.

The woman displayed a kitchen knife and demanded money, but she fled west on foot without taking anything, police said.

Police said no one was injured and they do not believe this incident is connected to any other open robbery cases.
