Pittsfield Police seek man who attempted to rob cab driver in broad daylight

PITTSFIELD — City police are seeking the man who tried to rob a cab driver at gunpoint — in broad daylight.

The attempted theft occurred on Friday near the New Amsterdam Apartments on Bradford Street, according to the Pittsfield Police Department Facebook page. In photos taken from the dashboard camera of the cab, the suspect is shown already in the vehicle, wearing a mask, pointing what appears to be a handgun at the female driver.

The would-be robber doesn't get any money and eventually leaves the cab on foot, according to police.

The driver wasn't hurt and the suspect — considered armed and dangerous — remains at large, police said Monday.

Anyone with information regarding the attempted robbery should call Pittsfield police at 448-9700 and ask for the investigating officer, Brett Henault.
