Pittsfield Police SUV, pickup collide at city intersection
PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield Police officer suffered minor injuries on Thursday after his vehicle collided with a large Ford pickup at the intersection of First and Fenn streets, police reported.
The officer was transported to Berkshire Medical Center, according to Officer Nicholas DeSantis. The driver of the Ford F-150 pickup was not injured.
The names were not immediately released, pending a police press statement expected later Thursday.
The black police SUV sustained significant damage on its driver's side, and it came to a stop on the east side of First Street, against the masonry base for The Howard sign in a parking lot for that building.
The truck came to rest in the intersection, angled across First Street. It had mostly front-end damage.
Several Police and Fire Department vehicles were at the scene after the collision, including apparent investigators taking photos.
