Pittsfield: Public meeting on Mill Street Dam removal


Berkshire Environmental Action Team has organized a public meeting and discussion on the proposed Mill Street (aka Tel-Electric) Dam Removal/West Branch Housatonic River Restoration Project from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Conte Community School, 200 West Union St.

The project intends to improve ecological conditions of the river, eliminate public safety hazards, and set the stage for a future greenway along with restored river corridor.

Guest speakers include Alex Hackman, state Division of Ecological Restoration project manager, and Jim McGrath, Park, Open Space and Natural Resources Program manager for the City of Pittsfield.

There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.
