Pittsfield: Routes 8/9 road work to cause traffic delays

Mass. Department of Transportation advises motorists of lane restrictions along Route 8 and Route 9 from Pittsfield to Dalton as well as along Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield.

The lane restrictions began Monday, July 21, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m., and are anticipated to conclude after the first week of August.

Along Route 8 and Route 9, the work will begin in Pittsfield, west of the Hubbard Avenue intersection and will continue just east of the South Street intersection in Dalton.

The work along Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield will take place from Plastics Avenue to the railroad bridge.

Throughout the work, traffic will be maintained in both directions. Work is subject to postponement in the event of inclement weather.

Motorists are urged to plan for possible traffic delays due to the resurfacing and milling work to be performed and should reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone and along the detour route.
