Pittsfield: Salvation Army registering for Christmas assistance

Local families experiencing financial hardship have been invited to sign up for the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Assistance.

Families in need will receive a Christmas food basket and toys for children ages 1-12 just prior to Christmas Day.

Registration will take place Monday, Nov. 16, and Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., while supplies last.

Those looking to register for assistance need to bring proof of address, income, expenses, and identification for everyone in household (driver's license or state-issued ID card, birth certificate, social security card).

All questions can be directed to Captains Darlene and Elliott Higgins at 413-442-0624 or visit salvationarmyma.org/Pittsfield.

The Salvation Army will distribute between 300-500 baskets this year. The public is called upon to donate turkeys, hams or make monetary donations to ensure every family is served.

Donations can be brought to The Salvation Army, 298 West St., Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
