Pittsfield: Schools offering preschool screenings


Pittsfield Public Schools is offering free developmental screenings for all 3 and 4-year-old children who will not be entering kindergarten in September.

Screenings will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at Morningside Community School; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, March 24, at Conte Community School; and 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 3, at Berkshire County Head Start.

The purpose of the screenings is to identify children who may be functioning at a level below their chronological age in the areas of speech/language, cognition, social/emotional development, or physical development.

Evaluators will meet with the parent/guardian immediately following the screening to discuss the results.

No appointment is necessary to participate in the screenings.
