Pittsfield: Smoking cessation classes offered for veterans
In commemoration of the "Great American Smokeout" on Nov. 15, the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System will be offering Smoking Cessation classes.
The class is based on the Quit Smart program, which emphasizes setting and preparing a quit date, coping tools to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings, medical interventions for smoking cessation, and maintaining recovery from nicotine dependence.
Classes will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Fridays at the Pittsfield VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic at 73 Eagle St. Participants must be enrolled in VA healthcare.
To register for the Pittsfield class, contact Dina Malone, RN, (413) 584-4040, ext. 6315.
Any veteran who is interested in enrolling in VA healthcare can contact the VA Eligibility Office in Northampton at (413) 582-3091.
