GREAT BARRINGTON -- The Tyler Aces got a complete game performance out of Pat Latini and a game-ending double play with the go-ahead run at the plate to reach today's championship against Post 68.
"We're looking for a close contest," said Aces manager Bill Dassat, whose team has lost two out of three tight games to Post 68. "We've been an up and down team all year. The kids are upbeat."
South Berkshire never led in the game, but did cut the lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh. Christian Callahan hit a Latini pitch up the middle. The ball deflected off of Latini's glove to second baseman Justin Hopkins. Hopkins threw to Anthony Jones at short for the first out and Jones' relay to Anthony Traversa was in time to get Callahan and end the game.
Hopkins led the way for the Aces, going 2 for 3 with 3 runs batted in. Tanner Hanford was 2 for 3 with two RBI. Dan Meandro had two of South Berkshire's five hits.
