Pittsfield: Springside Park workday planned

The Friends of Springside Park will celebrate 25th annual clean up of Pittsfield’s largest park for Earth Day. The annual clean up of litter, dumping, and small improvement projects throughout the 260 acre park will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

This year’s project is supported by the Springside Park Conservancy, an umbrella coalition of local organizations involved in programs, preservation and improvement at the park, with additional assistance by students from Reid Middle School and other local youth coordinated by the Berkshire Community Action Council. Seven Winter Grille is donating the supplies.

Participants will meet at the North Playground parking lot near the former zoo area, from the entrance at 874 North St. Volunteers may come at any time during the day. Bring gloves if possible, though these will also be provided. The rain date is Sunday, April 27.

The Friends of Springside’s annual meeting dinner will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the new Seven Winter Grille, 7 Winter St. New members are welcome. RSVP in advance to (413) 441-7922.
