Pittsfield: Student wins national graduate fellowship

Alexander Tierney, son of John and Michele Tierney of Pittsfield, was recently awarded the Maude Etheredge Graduate Fellowship from Alpha Lambda Delta in the amount of $3,000. This graduate fellowship is for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Tierney graduated from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams on May 14 with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in business and psychology.

While attending MCLA, Tierney completed four internships (540 hours) with the Assistive Technology Department at United Cerebral Palsy of Berkshire County and is now employed there as an AT assistant.

Tierney will be pursuing a master's degree in assistive technology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., beginning this fall.
