Pittsfield Suns score 13 runs, move to over .500


WORCESTER >> The Pittsfield Suns have climbed back over .500 for the first time since opening night.

The Suns traveled to Worcester on Thursday and beat the Bravehearts 13-9 in 10 innings.

Pittsfield had a one-run lead going into the ninth inning, but the Bravehearts were able to tie it and force extra innings when Rafael Bournigal hit a home run.

Brian Moskey broke the 9-9 in the 10th with a two-run double for Pittsfield (4-3). Matt Cuneo pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th for the Suns, picking up his second win of the season.

The 10:30 a.m. start featured 33 hits between the two teams, including 22 for the Suns.

Pittsfield's high-powered offense was lead by Colin Gimblet (3 for 5 with four RBI) and Eric Hamilton (4 for 7 with three RBI). That included Hamilton's fourth home run of the season.

The Suns come back home on Friday night to face the Torrington Titans at Wahconah Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
