Pittsfield: Vigil to highlight World Alzheimer’s Day

Thursday September 20, 2012

The Berkshire Alzheimer Partnership will hold a vigil from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Home Instead Senior Care office located at 364 South St. to highlight World Alzheimer’s Action Day.

Partnership members will be outside on the lawn at the Home Instead office with banners and balloons to recognize the importance of the day and to raise community awareness for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

The public is welcome to participate in this vigil. Participants are encouraged to "go purple" for the day and wear their favorite purple clothes and accessories.

This vigil is one of a number across the country over the next several weeks to acknowledge World Alzheimer’s Month, and to promote the nationwide Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The Berkshire Walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail in Cheshire.

Additional fundraisers for the walk include a Sushi Fest and Art Auction on Friday, Oct. 12, in North Adams.
