Pittsfield: VOICES to perform ‘Melville, Haunted"

Tuesday October 2, 2012

VOICES Theatre Company, in collaboration with Berkshire Historical Society, will present a historic Pittsfield play, "Melville, Haunted," Columbus Day weekend at Arrowhead, 780 Holmes Road.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4-7.

"Melville, Haunted" is the third play in "The Melville Trilogy" written by Sally Filkins for Pittsfield’s 2012 "Call Me Melville" Festival.

The play will be performed within the context of a candlelight tour of Arrowhead. A harvest dessert buffet, presided over by the ghost of Nathaniel Hawthorne, will follow the play.

In the play, Herman Melville is bedeviled and beguiled by ghostly visitations from his family, friends and characters from his novels.

Tickets, which include the candlelight tour, performance, and harvest dessert buffet, are $25.

As a limited number of people can be accommodated in the museum rooms at Arrowhead, reservations are strongly recommended.

For reservations and information, contact Betsy Sherman at Arrowhead at (413) 442-1793, VOICES at (413) 442-1928, or email director@berkshirehistory.org.
