Pittsfield: Volunteers sought to tidy rain gardens

The Housatonic Valley Association welcomes volunteers to help maintain the 10 rain gardens on North Street.

Volunteers spend a couple of hours each week tidying up the rain gardens to keep them free of trash and other debris.

Rain gardens are slightly depressed areas of land that are landscaped with native plants. The gardens collect polluted storm water and remove the pollutants before the storm water enters the Housatonic River.

To volunteer, contact Alison Dixon at HVA at 413-394-9796 or adixon@hvatoday.org.
