Pittsfield: Volunteers to plant 2,000 chestnut seeds at Springside Park


A chestnut tree seed planting event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the old zoo within Springside Park. The event will be put on with the collaboration of The American Chestnut Tree foundation located in Ashville, N.C.

Recently, Springside Park created a seed orchard in preparation for the tree planting. On the day of the event, volunteers will plant 2,000 Chestnut seeds. R.S.V.P. will host a lunch during the planting.
