Pittsfield: Walk-a-thon to raise funds for local veterans

The inaugural Shamrock Pack Walk for Veterans is slated Sunday, June 12. The walk will kick off at 2 p.m. from Shamrock Dog Grooming, 10 Lyman St., and continue 11/2 miles to the Peace Memorial on Veterans Way.

Anthony Riello will sing the National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and veteran speakers reflecting on their service.

Following the ceremony, walkers will return to Shamrock Grooming.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. Pledge sheets are available at Shamrock Dog Grooming. Donations are welcome.

Dogs are welcome but limited to the first 25 dog walkers registering. Donations of $50 or more will receive a free T-shirt. T-shirts will be available for purchase on walk day for $15.

All proceeds benefit the American Legion Riders Post 155 of Dalton to be distributed to local veterans in need.

The walk is a collaboration of Paula Phillips of Shamrock Dog Grooming and Jesse Salas of The Right End of the Leash. Sponsors include Shamrock Grooming, Animal Life Publication, Peace Train Tees, Fitter Critters, Berkshire Bank, Williams & Kingsley Auto, Qualprint, and American Legion Riders Post 155.
