Pittsfield: Walk for children to conclude in Berkshire County
The Walk for Massachusetts Children, a 135.5-mile walk from Boston to Pittsfield to raise awareness about the needs of children, will conclude Saturday, May 10, in Pittsfield.
Sue and Tim Crane, organizers of the walk, are a retired social worker and teacher, respectively. They believe children deserve to grow up happy and loved. Along with others, the husband and wife team began walking in Boston on Thursday, May 1, and will arrive in Pittsfield on Saturday, May 10.
They plan to walk 15 miles per day and travel on Route 9 through 26 towns. Children, adults, and families are invited to walk along with them.
The Cranes plan to stop for a 6 p.m. pot-luck dinner and gathering at Village Church in Cummington on Thursday, May 8. On Friday, May 9, they will take a 10:30 a.m. break at Windsor Congregational Church and visit Dalton United Methodist Church for a 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner and gathering.
The walk concludes Saturday, May 10, with an information gathering and celebration at Zion Lutheran Church beginning at 11:30 a.m.
