Pittsfield: Wiffle ball team plans tag sale fundraiser

Posted

The Berkshire Bombers, a team of young men who attend Pittsfield High School, will host a tag and bake sale to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday June 14, at 100 Parkside Ave.

The Travis Roy Foundation helps people with spinal cord injuries and provides funds for grants and research. TRF was formed by Travis Roy, who in 1995 was injured in a freak accident 11 seconds into his first Boston University Hockey game.

Teams participating in TRF’s annual fundraising wiffle ball tournament at "Little Fenway" and "Little Wrigley" fields in Essex Vt., each August, must fundraise and provide funds for TRF to remain in the tournament. Last year, the Berkshire Bombers wiffle ball team raised $5,000.
