The Women of Color Giving Circle of the Berkshires will be hosting its annual graduates event at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Spice Dragon, 297 North St.

In its eighth year, the event honors African-American high school graduates in Berkshire County. This year, there are 64 reported graduates throughout the county.

Each graduate was required to submit an essay to be eligible for a financial award. Additionally, graduates (or a representative from their family) are required to attend the event in order to receive the award.

The public is invited to attend to the celebration.

The guest speaker will be Sherri Killins, former Commissioner of Early Education and Care for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Berkshire Community College representative Eleanor Velez will present awards to the graduates. Poetry will be shared by members of the Rites of Passage and Empowerment program of Pittsfield.

Information: Yvonne West at (413) 442-3078.
