The Pittsfield Family YMCA announces free SilverSneakers classes for eligible seniors.

Funded by a grant from Elder Services of Berkshire County Inc. and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the classes strive to increase heart-healthy endurance, muscle strength, balance and coordination to reduce injuries and falls.

SilverSneakers Classic meets from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, and 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Thursdays.

SilverSneakers Circuit meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Fridays.

Eligible seniors must be at least 60 years old. Preference will be given to low-income seniors.

To participate, visit the Y at 292 North St. to receive two free passes to SilverSneakers classes with the possibility of continued free guest access through Sept. 30, 2016.
