Pittsfield: YMCA registering for Superhero 5K Challenge


The Pittsfield Family YMCA announces its new family-friendly walk/run Superhero 5K Challenge scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13.

Dressed as a Superhero of their design, participants will conquer 19 villain-themed obstacles spread along a 3.1-mile course around Burbank Park.

All proceeds will support the Y’s programs and services that provide a safe environment for children and families.

Two courses are planned for this event. An obstacle course fun run for ages 3-10 begins at 11 a.m. and an obstacle course 5K for ages 8 to adult begins at 10 a.m. Participants should arrive no later than 9 a.m.

The 5K cost $10 for ages 8-18 and $15 for ages 18+. Event day registration from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. will cost $20, regardless of age. The fun run is free.

Superheroes can register individually or as a team. Maximum team size is 10 Superheroes.

Food vendors, music, games, and raffles will follow the event.
