Podcast | Fredric D. Rutberg: Freedom of the Press in an Age of Crisis
NORTH ADAMS — The 230th anniversary of the enactment of the United State's Constitution was marked by the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a talk by Judge Fredric D. Rutberg, president of New England Newspapers Inc.
His speech, "Freedom of the Press in an Age of Crisis," makes up the entirety of this podcast.
Rutberg, who retired from the bench in 2015, served as presiding justice of the Southern Berkshire District Court and of Central Berkshire District Court.
At the beginning of May 2016, Rutberg, along with three other investors — Stan Lipsey, Hans Morris and Bob Wilmers — purchased New England Newspapers, Inc., which publishes The Berkshire Eagle and three Vermont newspapers, The Bennington Banner, The Brattleboro Reformer and the Manchester Journal. Since then, he has served as president of New England Newspapers Inc.
