Police: 1 hurt, gunman dead, in Cambridge workplace shooting

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. >> A man shot and injured a former co-worker at a Cambridge business before killing himself in what police are calling an act of workplace violence.

A police spokesman says a man who had been fired a couple of months ago shot from outside at his former employer's building at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday, striking one current employee.

That employee was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

Police spokesman Jeremy Warnick says the gunman then killed himself.

No names were released, but he confirmed that both were male.

Warnick did not say what kind of business it was, but according to broadcast reports, it was a health insurance company.
