Police: Chelsea woman made up story of being attacked
CHELSEA >> Police now say a woman who told them she was attacked and stabbed while walking home from work last weekend made up the whole story.
The woman, Denissa Perez, faces charges of misleading a police officer.
The 25-year-old Perez told investigators that she was attacked by three men on Saturday night. She said she was beaten, kicked, and slashed with a knife. She was even taken to the hospital.
Police say while investigating, they found "several inconsistencies" in the evidence.
Police concluded that the woman was injured inside the home while attempting to break up a fight between several men. Police said she was cut with a broken bottle during the fight and required stitches. She will be summoned to court.
