Police investigating fatal crash in Boston tunnel
BOSTON (AP) -- State police are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Boston’s Sumner Tunnel.
Authorities say the driver, a 33-year-old woman from the city’s Dorchester section, died in the single-vehicle crash at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Three adult passengers were also hurt and taken to area hospitals, but authorities say they are expected to survive.
Investigators say it appears the vehicle hit a concrete barrier before striking a tunnel wall, and that multiple civilian motorists stopped to try to help those in the vehicle.
Police don’t expect to file charges because of the crash, and haven’t publicly identified the vehicle’s occupants yet.
