Police investigating Mattapan shooting that injured man

MATTAPAN >> Police are investigating after a man was shot by an unknown assailant over the weekend in suburban Boston.

The Boston Globe reports the shooting happened just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Rosewood Street in Mattapan.

Officer James Kenneally says the victim, who wasn't identified, was hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Police closed off the street to traffic as they searched the area. Ballistic evidence was found outside a nearby home. Rosewood Street was reopened around 10:30 p.m.

Two people were shot on the same street almost a year prior in January 2014.
