Police investigating Springfield crowbar beating


SPRINGFIELD >> Police are investigating after a man was found beaten and bloody in the middle of a street in Springfield's North End section.

The Springfield Republican reports police say they were alerted around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday that three or four Hispanic men were beating another Hispanic man with a crowbar near the intersection of Prospect and Narragansett streets.

Officers arrived on scene to find the victim lying flat in the middle of the road. Multiple city police officers and at least one state police unit responded.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center for emergency treatment after he awoke. Police say when he came to, the shirtless victim began screaming and making threats against his attackers.
