Police: Investigation underway after Springfield teen shot, wounded


SPRINGFIELD, MASS. >> Police are investigating a shooting in Springfield that injured a teenager over the weekend.

Police say a 17-year-old boy walked into Baystate Medical Center at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday with injuries not considered life threatening. Authorities didn't immediately identify him.

An investigation found that the shooting happened in the city's Sixteen Acres neighborhood.

Police say the victim told them he was going to buy an expensive article of clothing from someone he met on the internet. The teen says he was then jumped and robbed by several other people and shot once.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating.
