PITTSFIELD -- A 35-year-old city resident arrested on Thursday after police raided his residence was held on bail following his arraignment on drug and weapons charges in Central Berkshire District Court on Friday.

Police say they discovered 28 ounces of marijuana, an illegal handgun and a small amount of cocaine on Thursday after a daylight raid of Jason "Finesse" Rivera’s residence on Lenox Avenue.

Appearing before District Court Judge Fredric D. Rutberg, Rivera pleaded not guilty to possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, second offense; possession of cocaine; and three weapons charges.

Rutberg ordered Rivera held at the Berkshire Count Jail & House of Correction on $5,000 cash bail, or $50,000 surety bond.

Rivera’s attorney, Glenn W. Keiderling Jr., said his client is presumed innocent. He may file a motion to suppress evidence in the case.

According to a police report, Pittsfield Police, the Berkshire County Drug Task Force and the county’s Special Response Team executed a "no knock" search warrant on Rivera’s residence around 10:45 a.m. Thursday where they recovered marijuana and crack, a .22 calber Ruger pistol and $1,400 in cash.

After the officers entered the residence, Rivera allegedly told police where the drugs and gun were located, according to the report.

Keiderling said Rivera is originally from Springfield, but has ties to the Berkshires.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, Rivera also has a pending drunken driving case. The prosecutor didn’t ask for a bail revocation on those charges.

A pre-trial hearing on Rivera’s most recent charges is scheduled for next month.
