Police: Marine takes own life after disturbance in Swansea
SWANSEA, MASS. >> Police say a 24-year-old Marine has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he allegedly fired a rifle inside his ex-girlfriend's house during a domestic disturbance in southeastern Massachusetts.
Police say the Marine went to a Swansea home armed at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday and threatened his former girlfriend.
Police say the man aimed the gun at two men who attempted to settle the situation before firing a round off above their heads and fleeing.
Neighbors were told to shelter-in-place until the gunman was found dead at his home on Nichols Street.
No one was injured, but there was some minor property damage.
The man's name was not released.
