Police: Winthrop man assaulted officer, ran down pedestrian

WOBURN, MASS. >> Authorities are searching for a man they say assaulted a police officer and ran down a pedestrian with a car while fleeing.

Police say they were interviewing 29-year-old Tyson Delgado after receiving reports of a theft in Woburn on Wednesday morning.

Delgado then allegedly attacked an officer and drove away. Police say the Winthrop man sped down Main Street and hit a 65-year-old man who was walking into the crosswalk. They say Delgado continued to drive as the man landed on the hood of the car and fell into the road.

Delgado ditched the car and fled on foot.

The victim was taken to a Burlington hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Police say Delgado is wanted for assault and battery and other offenses.
